PuttLab Success Stories |
|
By Richard Fry, Golf Vision 28/07/2006
I installed a
system at Manawatu Golf Club in Palmerston North (NZ) a couple of weeks ago. The Head
Pro is Andre White. He has a home town student called Tim Wilkinson who is on
the Nationwide tour in the states. Tim was back when I went down there and he’s
been having trouble with his putting (always a good ball striker). I showed
Andre and Tim through the system. We got Tim’s personal competence rating from
85% to 91% in a couple of hours. During the rest of the week he worked with the
system to ingrain his progress. This morning in
his first Nationwide tournament back he shot 64 to lead by 1 stroke after the
first round. 24 putts. Sank everything he looked at.

Personal Success Stories |
-
An amateur player
over here (physiotherapist) had never broken 100 after several
years of taking up the game. He had a 30min SAM session and next
game shot 92
-
A guy from my club
was putting like shit. 12 handicapper. We have pretty tough
greens at Titirangi to be fair. He had a SAM session just before
the intermediate club champs. He won.
-
A scratch handicapper
had been having putting confidence problems. First round after a
SAM session he shot 66. He now uses SAM regularly.
Here’s a quote from
Christian Marquardt who invented the system. He sent this to me last
week after visiting Hank Haney in the States. "At Hanks place they
use two SAM PuttLab's intensively. They had thousands and thousands
of measurements on their computers. Also very interesting the data
of Tiger. Been on the system the first time and didn't like to know
the results. Then the second time started to look at the results,
working on his putting and now for the forth time - putting until
perfection. Still they need an advisor - maybe that's me."

Commercial Success Stories |
-
Warren Mercer at
The Grange in Adelaide sold $1000 of putters in his first
week, plus 3 lessons. At 25% margin on putters and $50 per
lesson, that’s $400 gross in week one. Cost = $54/week
subscription rental. That’s an 86.5% margin on his
investment. He is still tracking at a similar level. He
hasn’t even started advertising yet and he is going to get
the State team paying a base fee for use throughout the
year.
-
Shelley Duncan at
Balmacewen in Dunedin has been away for nearly 2 of her
first 4 weeks of the subscription rental period. During her
time back at the shop she has sold 8 putters – all higher
value brands than usual. Plus numerous lessons. Dunedin is
way down south and she gets snowed in sometimes. PuttLab
gives her an indoor coaching lesson option. Hasn’t
advertised yet.
-
Quenton Diment at
Northland golf club sold 5 putters in the first 3 weeks. He
has delegated the system to his 2 young trainees so he can
make margin off them. He’s taking it to radio soon.
-
NZ Golf
Association have put their entire Titleist academy squads
through it. They have all been measured, trained, given
ongoing drills and a personal competence rating to beat.
Each of their high performance coaches (x6) has been trained
on how to use the system. They are great ambassadors for us
and we have some strong sales leads because of them.
(Australian Golf Association has to get one of these.
They’ll get left behind. Nearly all the European Golf Unions
have adopted the system for their amateur squads.
-
I spoke to the
Titleist rep over here this week (Dean Sipson) he said that
in the outlets he calls on that have a SAM PuttLab he has
noticed a definite increase in Titleist putter sales. Club
members that normally wouldn’t stretch to an expensive
Titleist putter are being convinced of the benefit and
making the commitment.
-
One of our first
installations was to a South African Golf pro based at a
driving range out here. Unfortunately he has now taken a
position in the states, but before leaving in his first 3
months, he was tracking at $1500 per month. He was tracking
at a 74% margin. He was milking his existing client base.
His technique was a one option fee - $100 for an hour
session.
